By using PerfectPulse Technology®, the Allegretto ensures safe and precise work at this high speed. Each ultra-thin laser pulse is used to sculpt the corneal surface of the eye with the utmost precision. The high-speed eye-tracker follows the eye's movements, checking its position 400 times per second while ensuring an accurate placement of each laser pulse on the cornea. Because of this feature, you can rest assured that each laser pulse will be delivered accurately.
Smart Energy Control helps to control and balance energy levels during your treatment to ensure that each laser pulse creates the same result. There are three “checkpoints” that the laser beam passes through on its way to your eye. At each of these points the energy level is checked and adjusted, if necessary, ensuring the precise amount of energy is being maintained. As a result of these features every laser pulse is delivered quickly and accurately, creating the most predictable level of correction possible.

With the advent of wavefront-guided custom treatments in 2002, LASIK surgeons were suddenly able to address unique imperfections in the eye beyond what glasses and contact lenses could correct. One of the most impressive and innovative features of the Wavelight laser is that it uses this technology to customize every treatment both to the patient's prescription and the unique curvature of their cornea. A normal, healthy cornea is curved. Most current laser systems flatten the cornea centrally which can then leave the eye with increased aberrations – or distortions - which degrades the quality of vision. This is especially noticeable at night, and may cause the glare and halo phenomenon. Instead of flattening the cornea, the Wavelight laser maintains the curvature by treating the cornea both centrally and peripherally. By leaving the cornea more similar to its natural state, excellent quality of vision can be achieved both day and night.
