Kenneth E. Morgenstern, M.D.

Dr. Kenneth E. Morgenstern, M.D. practices medical and surgical ophthalmology as well as Reconstructive Surgery with a speciality in a variety of treatments and procedures offered at Nevyas Eye Associates. Serving Philadelphia, PA and the surrounding area.Kenneth E. Morgenstern, MD is a board certified surgeon with sub-specialty training in Adult and Pediatric Oculoplastic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery. He is one of the few surgeons in the world to have gained certification by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also only one of two physicians ever in Pennsylvania to have been recognized for the international Marvin Quickert Award for excellence in research.

Dr. Morgenstern is a native of Philadelphia and obtained his undergraduate degree from Emory University. He received his MD degree from The Medical College of PA and Hahnemann University where he also trained in General Surgery. There he was recognized as the Intern of the Year and was awarded the distinguished Physician Humanitarian Award from the Pennsylvania Medical Society. He went on to further training in ophthalmology at West Virginia University where he served as the Chief Resident. Dr. Morgenstern was then awarded a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at The Ohio State University He completed his training with subsequent fellowships in Facial Cosmetic Surgery and Pediatric Oculoplastic and Craniofacial Surgery.

Dr. Morgenstern served as an Oculoplastic and Facial Reconstructive Surgeon at the Medical College of Virginia.   He is the orbital and oculofacial surgeon at the Philadelphia Veterans Medical Center.  There he teaches both residents and oculofacial fellows from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as the pediatric oculofacial surgeons from the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.  He has authored over 20 articles and 5 book chapters and actively lectures both locally and nationally on both reconstructive and cosmetic topics. He remains active in Plastic Surgery research and has patents pending for new therapies which can be used to help make the lives of cancer patients treated with radioactive iodine better.

Amiram M. Shapiro, M.D.

Dr. Amiram M. Shapiro, M.D. practices medical and surgical ophthalmology with a speciality in a variety of treatments and procedures offered at Nevyas Eye Associates. Serving Philadelphia, PA and the surrounding area.Amiram M. Shapiro M.D., M.B.A., M.S. (Ophthalmology) is a graduate of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel.  He completed his residency at Hadassah Medical Center.  In Jerusalem, he served as Chief Resident and had subspecialty training in Glaucoma and Pediatric Ophthalmology.  He completed a fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington D.C., and was a Research Associate at the University of Illinois.  Later he received post-graduate training in Eye Plastic Surgery at Harvard University's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. 

Dr. Shapiro has served as the Program Director at the Drexel University Eye Department and as the Chairman of the Eye Department at Rabin Medical Center near Tel Aviv.  He was the chief investigator in more then 50 scientific projects in the fields of Glaucoma, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Oculoplastic Surgery and has many publications.  He is a contributing author in leading ophthalmologic textbooks and has given numerous lectures and courses all over the world.  Dr. Shapiro is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Shapiro sees consultation patients in the fields of Eye Plastic Surgery and Pediatric Ophthalmology.
